Hands that Help
Most of us can remember a moment when someone was there for us—a friend, family member, or even a kind stranger who offered a helping hand. The St. Vincent de Paul Society works to be that helping hand.

SVdP works to be that helping hand. We use home visits, food pantries, rent and utility assistance, beds for children, and more to provide physical help along with the dignity of connection and friendship—all with the goal of keeping our friends in their homes.
Meet Our Neighbors
Meet Mary, a resilient mother of seven. When our team arrived at her home to deliver beds, we found her shaken after a recent break-in attempt. While providing beds for her children, our Vincentians also offered the comfort and reassurance she needed in that moment. Later, when Mary moved, the lightweight, collapsible bed frames made the transition easier for her family.
Janine, a young woman working in food service, lives with her teenage brother and their mother, who relies on Social Security disability income. Recently, their family faced a crisis when Janine’s mother became a victim of identity theft, causing their disability checks to be diverted. With no savings to cover their rent, they fell behind and were threatened with eviction. Support from the St. Vincent de Paul Society allowed them to cover their rent and avoid homelessness.
At age 89, John is retired. He lives with and cares for his 102-year-old mother. Together, their main source of income is social security. Visiting our food pantry when their budget gets tight due to many health care expenses frees up their resources to pay their rent and stay in their home.
Honor the Hands that Help
During this holiday season, I invite you to remember the hands that have helped you and the difference it made in your life. Today, you can honor them by passing the gift of help and hope forward with a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Your donation will provide comfort and hope for someone in need. Every dollar helps us fill an empty cupboard, keep the lights on, and lift the spirits of those facing difficult days.
Together, we can ensure that everyone who needs help finds it.
